ABOUT ESTEBAN'S COFFEE
Costa Rica is renowned as one of the highest-quality coffee origins. Esteban is the pioneer of the nowadays near-standard anaerobic fermentation process. Esteban is part of Café de Altura which processes coffees from San Ramon, a mountainous region near the Costa Rican capital of San Jose. Café de Altura was founded in 2004 by a group of passionate coffee enthusiasts. Their mission is to bring exceptional coffee lots to the world through a short chain. They work with around 3,800 farmers in their region and always prioritize quality, sustainability, and environmental protection.
Since around 20 years ago, many coffee producers in Costa Rica have gone independent from dominant international firms and set up their own micro mills. Café de Altura being co-owned by 570 small-scale producers and working with over 3,500 small-scale farmers finds ways to distinguish themselves by being heavily focused on technology and equipment to create extra value for their producers.
With our roast, we aim to highlight the fruity and syrupy notes that characterize this anaerobic natural Costa Rica, without overaccentuating the acidity.
